Uber Exits Pakistan: Discontinues operations in Pakistan.

After withdrawing from Islamabad, Karachi, Multan, and numerous other cities in 2022, Uber has now discontinued services in Lahore. The ride-hailing giant has formally declared its decision to discontinue operations in Pakistan. Before today’s ruling, the Uber app was only available in Lahore.

According to a spokesperson, it has decided to stop operating the application in Pakistan. Our subsidiary brand, Careem, will continue to function, with the Careem app providing cab services throughout Pakistan and earning possibilities for drivers.

However, Uber is offering a price reduction on Careem, another cab-hailing service run by the same business. Careem subscribers may use the code LHR50 to receive a 50% discount on their next five rides.

As previously said, Careem intends to function as usual in all of its cities, and consumers may utilize it as its substitute. As a reminder, Careem Rides serves ten cities in Pakistan: Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad, Abbottabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Quetta.

Uber’s decision to quit Pakistan is a major setback for the transportation community. As the dust settles, it’s unclear how the business will adapt and evolve to fulfill the requirements of Pakistani commuters in the absence of Uber.
