Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association demanded from the government to immediately withdraw the decision. 5% advance turn-over tax. Otherwise, the association will go on a nation-wide strike on July 5 by closing all petrol pumps in the country.
The chairman of the Association, Abdul Sami Khan, explained that the introduction of this new 0.5% turn-over tax will be detrimental to the petrol pump business.
He further said that petrol pumps are already running at very low profit rates because of the increase in inflation in the country. As a result of this tax, petrol dealers will be left with no option other than to close their businesses.
He urged that if the government will respond to their demands positively, then they will start a strike on July 5.
