The Education Minister of Punjab, Rana Sikander Malik, announced that after summer vacations, all the government schools in Punjab will remain closed on Saturdays.
The new policy of two days off in schools is aimed at reducing the burden on government teachers. “Teachers are serving the nation, and it is our duty to take care of them,” stated the education minister.
He further said that from now on, government schools will be functional from Monday to Friday. In addition to that, the working hours in schools will be extended so that the students’ education will not be affected.
According to Minster, Saturdays are now reserved for teacher’s training programs, so the teachers may attend the training sessions without any extra work load from regular classes.
New school schedules with extended working hours from Monday to Friday will be announced shortly.
