In a Senate meeting, it was decided that the bank accounts of non-filers would be frozen in the amended finance bill for 2024.
This decision was part of the original finance bill for 2024, but it was not accepted at that time and was considered for further discussion in the Senate.
Along with the decision to block bank accounts of non-filers, it has been decided that the mobile import tax will be fixed instead of 18% of the sales tax on mobile phones.
If the non-filers do not respond to the notices, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR will issue Income Tax General Orders (ITGO) to seal the bank accounts of non-filers.
After the freezing of accounts, non-filers can credit the amount in their accounts but cannot draw the money.
The accounts will remain blocked until their names appear on the Active Taxpayer List ATL.
