On 3rd May, 2024 the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board has been dissolved by the Education Minister for betterment. This change aims a great future of Punjab education and its further impacts.
Streamlined Governance of Education
Three other educational entities are going to been attached with PCTB for future benefits:
- Punjab Education Commission (PEC)
- Teacher training institutions
- A newly formed department under the Chief Minister’s direct supervision
This merger creates a unified body overseeing all four crucial sectors of education in Punjab. The goal? To streamline governance, improve efficiency, and centralize decision-making under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Centralized Development of Curriculum
Previously, curriculum development fell under the PCTB’s purview. The new structure integrates curriculum development within the unified body. This shift from a decentralized approach to a centralized one promises greater control and potentially faster revision cycles for textbooks and educational materials
Future of Punjab Education
Dissolving PCTB is not an ordinary decision the government must have a strong plan for its future betterment because it is directly linked with the education of Punjab, now the further developments can make it more clarify about its impacts.
